….a message to our parents:

Dear Presidents and Friends of PTA:

Thank you for being part of an extraordinary association of individuals promoting the highest standards of education for all children.  As the motto says “every child, one voice” and that sums up our commitment to serve the needs of all children with a single voice of support.

At the PTA Council meetings listed in this directory, you will find the tools and encouragement you need to do the best job for the students in our school district.  You will receive guidance, assistance and training (if necessary) in order to steer your PTA along the path to success. Every month, there will be the opportunity to receive updates from our school district superintendent, Dr. Dennis Smith, and the school district information officer, Ms. Rosemary Gladden.  The PTA Council enjoys a close and productive working relationship with the school district administration and we appreciate the ongoing collaboration and cooperation.  The aim of every PTA/PTSA is to enhance the educational experience for all students and PTA Council will assist your endeavors whenever and however possible. Together, we can accomplish wonderful things for our PTA/PTSA’s and enrich the lives of over 27,000 students in the Placentia Yorba Linda School District.

Please take a moment to look through our site and make a note of the meetings and the due dates for various important items.  Also, kindly remember to send a substitute, in the event that you are unable to attend the meetings because we need a quorum to conduct our business as stated in our bylaws.

Be an Advocate for Your Child’s Education!

To advocate is to be a proponent.  Being interested, involved and inquisitive when your child enters school is an example of advocacy. Advocacy builds stronger schools. Communicate with everyone involved in your child’s education, including your child.  Become aware of the issues your child faces every day in the classroom.  TALK TO YOUR CHILD - ASK YOUR CHILD...Find out what your child likes about school, and how your child feels about a typical day at school.  Talk to your child’s teacher. A teacher may have insights you do not have about your child. Share your insights too!  Be positive. If you suspect there is a problem, ask for the teacher’s input. Finding answers may take time.

Is your child struggling?  Research.  Speak with your child’s doctor.  Browse book stores, libraries and the Internet for valid information, i.e., California PTA www.capta.org, National PTA www.pta.org, and California Department of Education www.cde.ca.gov  Speak with other parents; their children might be having similar experiences. Attend parent education evenings.  Volunteer in the classroom, on field trips; attend school events and meetings. You will learn how your school and school district educates and supports your child.
